
William Armstrong
William studied at the University of Cape Town and finished with an arts degree. After that he moved to Canada and got a post graduate diploma from the Vancouver Film School, his major was directing. At the moment he is living in Copenhagen.
His first milestone was 2012 in Cannes, he directed a commercial for the car-brand Jaguar and won the Young Directors Award. To catch the attention of his audience, William loves to show unconventional landscapes, dramatic colors or unique textures. One of the most important ingredients to his films is emotion.
In 2021 his film “Unspoken” was first shown at the Tribeca Festival and gained a lot of international attention. It is an inspiring story of a ballet dancer whose father died within the lockdown. Expressing the feelings and emotions through the choreography, staged in a cinematic way, touched the audience.
