When not working Matthew enjoys watching anything starring his childhood hero Peter Sellers and can quote everything he ever said on screen.
Raised in the damp of the Pacific Northwest, Matthew Swanson left his quiet coastal enclave as a young man to attend film school in Montreal. After graduating, he wrote and directed his short "Hiro," which went on to play at dozens of film festivals worldwide, winning a multiple awards along the way. This paved the way to full time directing and he chose commercials with their eternal challenge of informing and entertaining within a precise time frame.
Over time Matthew has become known for delivering pitch-perfect comedic performances with a truly distinctive visual style raising the bar for his craft with every new film.
We are sorry to report that while Matthew enjoys directing, his true passion is singing, which much to many people’s embarrassment he is terrible at. He was once asked to leave a Berlin Karaoke bar for his memorable attempt to sing Kate Bush’s “Wuthering Heights.”
